Portugal CT Fernando Santos believes Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo ‘can play until 40’ and doesn’t expect him to ‘lower his level’.
The Portugal captain has scored 101 goals for the national side and has continued to impress at Juventus since his move to the Old Lady in July 2018.
He has scored 68 times in 91 competitive games with the Bianconeri, adding 10 to his impressive tally of 130 goals in the Champions League.
Portugal coach Santos believes the 35-year-old, who has already scored three times in Serie A 2020-21, can continue for five more years but expects the superstar to quit once he doesn’t feel he can contribute at the top anymore.

“Cristiano is ready to play until he’s 40, but he doesn’t know if it will happen,” Santos told TVI24. “At some point he may feel that he no longer has the same conditions.
“He’s not a player who will lower his level, when he feels like he can’t be Ronaldo, he won’t.”
